International Day of Peace - 21st September

22 September, 2019 - 07:15

The International Day of Peace ("Peace Day") is observed around the world each year on 21 September. Peace Day provides a globally shared date for all humanity to commit to Peace above all differences and to contribute to building a Culture of Peace.

The theme for this year, draws attention to the importance of combatting climate change as a way to protect and promote peace throughout the world. Climate change causes clear threats to international peace and security. Natural disasters affect three times as many people compared to conflict, this means people must leave their homes and seek safety elsewhere. The growing tensions over resources and mass movements of people are affecting every country on every continent.
